 Smoke photography 101.

Backlight on incense sticks against a black background. 2 lights positioned at 45 degrees behind and below the smoke. Some people like to use flashes offset from the camera, but I don't have a remote flash cable, so that's not an option for me.

Camera mounted on a tripod, manually focus on the smoke, shoot in shutter-priority mode at ISO 400 or higher to insure sharp smoke.

Color balance adjusted in Photoshop CS.

I assume this was strobed and then tweaked with levels/curves to be blue? If not, let me know how this was done.
