Good question. When I find that out, I'll let you know, but it's probably the same reason I used green kisses and a red apple in another of my shots. Maybe I'm just bizarre!

I'll vouch for bizarre. But I can't think of anything better to use. The dark Oreos contrast with the light fog and have an interesting texture. Nice choice of color, and the swirling details in the fog were captured perfectly.

Or a trout in a bowl of cereal? :-) Just wondering, of course, since the result(s) have been fantastic (and I would never even have considered putting them together...)

Great shot, David!

Having played with dry ice while making homemade rootbeer a few times, I can almost feel the cold! Great capture! Just one question, though... what made you choose oreos for the balance of the shot?

For some reason this reminds me more of a zombie movie effect ("Night of the Living Oreos") than cold temerature, although I guess you could say that is spine-chilling. Somewhat similar feel to my photo "Cereal Killers."

As some have guessed, this is dry ice. At least partially. I found out a few years ago while entering some home made ice cream into a cooking contest that normal water ice on top of dry ice causes a slight steamy effect. I added just a touch of water to this. Thanks for the votes, all!

Dry ice? I wouldn't expect the mist from regular ice, but it makes a nice effect. The lighting on this is also very attractive.

I rated this one a little lower at first...then the more I thought about it the hungrier I got...now I have a craving and will probably have to run to the store. THANKS! I did up the rating though.

thanks

This is a very good idea, very original. The cold vapors rising around the cookies are what really boost this image, well done.

Oreos on "dry" ice? Great idea. Thought about dry ice myself but didn't have access to it. I like the blue cast. 8
