Shoot:
Local Golf Club, Used lift Truck to elevate to 30Ft (10m)drilled small hole into Golf ball where I instered a needel and a string. Hung ball from broom stick approx 3Ft. from camera and had friend pretend to hit ball.

Post:
Adjustemnts from raw, crop, neatimage, cloned string out of pic and saved for web.

Thought:
I saw a similar picture in a Golf magazine, execpet they probably instered the ball later, had green grass and a fantastic island shoot in background - Next time....

Creativity at its best. Great set up. Pity this didn't finish higher in the rankings. Incedently I have only played golf once & that was in Australia & the "green" really was that brown.

Very creative image. I like the perspective from this angle. I didn't vote on this contest, but I would have given an 8 or 9. Good shot.

Thank you for all of your great comments. This shot was my highest ranked shoot so far. Yes green grass would have done better.... I had to find a spot where the green hit the road to park the truck. The hole is acutauly played the other direction. Had a blast doing it and love to learn different things. PS thank you for my freiend to pose for the picture :)

Great shot. A golf course let you play around with a lift truck.????? do you own it? :)

my only nitpik...Seemed like the ball was very high for a tee shot and it looked like a driver in your hand. Just my golf genes talking. :) good job and nice finish.

Congratulations on a top 20, although I expected this to place even higher (I gave it an 8). If the grass had been green, I'm sure it would have helped your score. Great concept and execution. Congratulations again!

Good job except you should have made the ball alittle blurry so it seems real.

The concept is great and the in-focus golf ball words very well, but the brown grass is a problem (I'm pretty sure that colorizing all of it would be okay in an advanced editing challenge).

Nice capture, not sure how you set this one up, but I have a feeling it took a while. The composition, dof, exposure and contrast are all very nice. Nothing you could control, but I wish the grass were greener. Something strange about seeing a golf course that does not have luscious and green grass.

I realize that it's winter in the northern hemisphere, but this would have been a lot more appealing if the grass were green. It might take a few passes, but I suspect that you could shift the hue of the grass to make it appear to be a healthy summer green.

Great photo. I'd like to know how it was done. I would've liked to have seen the sand flying from where the ball left the ground though. 7

Interesting angle ... I love how the grass is all brown - That validates that you took it this week :) I'm gonna guess you're in N. Carolina or possibly Ohio (where I am). BTW, you lifted your head :)
