I taped three real bills together, and pushed them into the printer rollers.
PP:
Curves, levels, saturation. Very slight crop.
Selected the money, inverted selection, then applied blur, which I think helps to direct the viewer's attention to the "print".
The halo-ing around the edge is entirely intentional to give it more of a fantasy feel.

Greetings from the Critique Club!

My standard text :)
-------------------
I'm by no means expert in area of photography. My comments are purely based on my limited understanding of technology and art behind digital photography. Apart from doing detailed evaluation of your submission, my intent is to learn different styles of photography by critically evaluating selective submissions. I hope following comments of mine are helpful to you.

Composition :
-------------
Good fit for challenge, for sure. But somehow does not make a very "interesting" composition.

Camera Work :
-------------
I really cannot make out much on camera work as post-processing has blurred most of the background, but sharp focus on dollars indicate that was good "quality" picture ... technically.

Post-processing :
-----------------
Like most of the comment point out, the backgound is "too" blurred. You are right in saying that it lets you focus on subject, but in this case background (printer) also was significent part of overall theme. I feel shallow DOF over blurring would have better impact.

Summary :
----------

Overall an above-average composition. I did not voted for this challenge but I would have also given something between 5-6 which is in line with average score. Better post-processing would have made this even better.

Great idea! Where can I get one of those printers?! I don't like the blur/glow around the money though. Great focus on the cash.

Why blur the printer? I'd like to know what model it is! Annoying halo around money.

good idea for the challenge. not sure why you blurred out the rest of the image... overstatement tends to deafen the ears, so to speak. the halo around the printout is distracting

great idea, nice DOF, but perhaps too much because I had to look really hard to figure out what the background was
