It was a horrible choice to find my best of 2005. I feel that I take excellent pictures on a regular basis, so what is best of good? This one surprised me. I sifted through about 17,000 shots and this one rose to the top. I only hope the best for it and wish all the best of luck. 2005 was a wonderful year!

You're a pro with 17,000 pics to choose from, many of which you rate as excellent and yet this is your selection as your best of the year. I like this image and would have been happy to have taken it myself, but for a pro I'm surprised you're that happy with it (because of the shiny skin, cropped chin etc that others have mentioned).

Wow what a great portrait this is. That yellow gold under the eyebrows really is a nice touch and it is the golden hues that dominate, very evocative and beautiful.

I like this alot but would rather see the focus on the great freckles rather than the hair strands.

Very, very nice. I really like the color tone and sharpness.

Poor lighting caused bright spots on right cheek and chin

Nice warm glow and perfect makeup but why cut the chin off? For a better finish a little powder would have been nice, the shiny areas look overexposed, bumping up..

Not a bad shot per say but there are a couple of things that would make this shot sooo much better. 1. I would include her whole jaw, not cut of the tip like that, it just looks accidental. 2. I would use some other form of lighting. I assume you used the title "vouge" to imply this was intended as a high fashion shot. The lighting is way too harsh and is not flattering. 3. I would personally have chosen a cooler WB. I do like the sharpness in the eyes though and the intensity in the eyes so keep at this. Hope this helps in any way.

I like how you have filled the frame, of with this portrait...

I think it would have been a stronger photo with the shiny highlights touched up.

Very nice portrait but the lights need to be softened (or makeup applied). BOL

Beautiful! Nice focus and I love the little lip curl. Almost saying, "I've got attitude. Want some?" Great portrait ;)

She scares me!

The technique you've used here has really enhanced the flaws in her skin, which is "anti-vogue" IMO. Great eyes, but the lighting is over harsh, the yellow cast is unattractive, and as I said.. glaring texture in the skin that unflatters.

I like how you focused on the eyes. Eyes tell stories - she is definitely sending a message with her beautiful eyes.

well, this is certainly an in-your-face shot. it definitely gets your attention. my gripes are with the lighting--it's just a bit too strong from the right.

now QUIT STARING AT ME!

I like the hair over the face but I think the lighting was a bit harsh, as it's making her face look very shiney, unless that was the look you were going for?

The absolute best portrait in the challenge... You kept it perfectly natural and the beauty shines wonderfully... very well done... :)

Excellent. It's raw and doesn't have over processing yet the colors are rich and vivid. Beautiful eyes!! Great portrait. 9

My opinion - slightly tighter crop (lop off the left into the hair, as on the right) would have sent this soaring to the stars. Nice use of makeup to highlight the eyes. Great focus on the eyes too. Hmmm. She looks familiar.

And I think ... Yes, yes I do! I think I see persimmons reflected in her eyes! :)

This is a very good photo, and I'm not just sucking up. Well done!

I love the clarity and sharpness of the eyes. Great tonality and coloring overall. I'm not so hot on the glare coming off the cheek and chin - I would have liked to have seen this softened up a bit, to provide more shadows and contours of the face. Nicely done overall!!

This is a nice shot but the "hotspots" on her skin and lips spoil it. A dash of translucent face powder to matt her skin would have helped . Nice sharp focus on her beautiful eyes.

Powder please?

Nice eyes, but could use a bit of help in the make-up department!

Technically, it's not terrible, but it's very jarring to look at.
