This is an alternate rendition of the challenge photograph. I have tried to improve the image by taking into consideration comments during voting.

The day was overcast which expressed itself in the color of the water...a warm, dark grey. Several commenters during voting commented that the water was too saturated or desaturated. Since it couldn't be both, I took this to mean that the picture should have more color or a wider range of colors. Others thought the image too dark.

In the version that appeared in the challenge, my intent was to emphasize the relatively quite small subject, which I did largely by increasing contrast using levels and curves in Photoshop.

This is something I have never seen - It's abit noisy but I don't care. The black water is frightening and the POV is HUGE! ... 9

great dynamic picture... the title (IMO) is prosaic to the point of banality...

Gee he is a long way down, and it looks very choppy...The water has a abstract feel about it...Well balanced image, well done.....

alittle too much saturation in my opinion

the perspective on this is really cool. i don't know if it's been partially desaturated or not, but i think a full color version would be awesome.

Good use of minimalism. You've gotten the kayaker to really stand out, and it's a very creative angle.. (On a bridge?).

I get verigo when I look at this - the water feels like it is moving!

Wow. Too much saturation. I think I would liked to see this toned down quite a bit.

This seems a bit oversharpened to me, but I like the angle. We don't normally see things from this point of view.

I like the composition, i just wish the water had a little more detail in the dark areas.
