its my aim to have at least 50 portraits before the end of the year

SCARS : tribal identification marks. [vertical scars mean that.]
Random scars all over the place means she a fight with somebody!

hey kelly, those are traditional scars, you will see them in most of my photos. i have been meaning to find out more about them. watch this space.

Those look like defense wounds. Maybe she fought off an attacker at some point in her life. She looks very retro and at peace now though. Fabulous portrait. Maybe I should do you for the Tribute challenge.

i love this les, her sloppy make up is almost a contrast to her scarred face, and the lines in the background work well

one of my favourites portraits from doris! :-)

Well, this is certainly a terrific portrait. It's gutsy and raw without being too rough or overprocessed. It is literally "in your face" and I like the poignant sadness it evokes. She has probaby had some rough times and it literally shows. The lighting is good and the reflection in her sunglasses adds a nice bit of the unexpected. The horizontal lines of the corrigated metal behind her adds a nice backdrop without being too busy. Good DOF. Congrats on an excellent image!
