a development of the technique that produced 'Galactic Formation' -

improvements:
-used a whiter, thicker paper, so I wouldn't burn holes through the page or have to touch it
-much more advanced processing, namely, the careful manipulation and addition of color, and altering the tones to maximize the impact

I was really glad to be able to take advantage of the advanced editing rules for this one. For all the times I've submitted a basic-editing image to an advanced-editing challenge, I've made up for it here.

I could see some people objecting to the border, because borders are frequently controversial - but I'm quite pleased with it. The glowing effect was an accident that I decided to keep: Create New Layer; Select All; Select > Modify > Border > 20 pixels; Stroke, one white pixel @100% opacity; change blending to Overlay mode

should have reduced the opacity of the glow...

taken with a set of $30 macro rings (+7 mag) attached to the 50mm.
