Hi from the critique club :)

Nice job on this entry. It fits the challenge description nicely, by your use of depth of feild, however the main subject isn't in a "crowd". Your use of black and white is very nice in this photograph, however the DPC crowd is very picky about their scoring and b/w photos and might have rated your photo down a little because of all of the gray area.

I didn't get a chance ot vote on this challenge. After reviewing the results i would have given this picture a 7. The use of depth of feild is exceptional in this photograph. I do agree with some of your commentors on that if you had been a little bit to the right i would have enjoyed this picture much more. Some people might enjoy the partial face but personally i would like to see his whole face. I'm not going to nag at you about your picture not meeting the challenge (because it did) but i consider a crowd to be a large congrgation of people and i just didn't get that sense of crowd from this picture.

Overall this was a very nice image and although some parts of it could be better technically this shot was good. The composition could be a little better between the gray areas and the partial face.

If you have any questions or comments PM me and i'll get back to you as soon as possible.

Perfectly done challenge entry, great use of shallow DOF to isolate your subject. Good luck

I like how he obscures the next person's face and his own face is almost obscured by the person in front of him, but he just peeks out like a drowning man coming up for air. great composition. 8.

The DOF is working to single out the guy with the magazine, but I think that the composition is not a lucky one. THe face of the guy sitting to the left of the main subject is smashed into the magazine. The face of the guy sitting the closest to the photographer mostly covers all of the face of the main subject.

cool idea. the guy's face buried in the magazine is a bit odd. the guy in the foreground sort of infringes on your subject a bit too much. but the person in the very back is interesting in they look sick. perhaps waiting a few moments for another composition could have put everything in place. btw very nice focus on the subject for what must have been an awkward situation to take a candid photo.

great shot...maybe if you would have moved right just a smidge to get more of the guy's face it would have been better...lighting and DOF is nice
