Slightly our of focus. otherwise would have been a great photo

Amen! However, there is only one person involved with preparing this meal so I don't know if the technically meets the "Prepare 1 or more dishes from a recipe" part of the challenge.

I don't think this meets the challenge - thought you were suppose to prepare a dish and post the recipe in your comments - what would the recipe be for this? regardless - it's a lovely capture of this young Mother with her child :)

Mother and child seem content together but most reviewers will likely find the image does not "meet the challenge" as they see it and vote it lower. On the technical side the image is taken from an "ordinary" perspective and is not quite as sharp as it could be. The mother's garb has nice green colors.

bending the rules :-) but it had to be done
01/16/2006 01:19:06 PM
How is this a dish from a recipe?
01/16/2006 04:40:19 AM
Washed out and contains no food, unless you're referring to the baby.

Closer examination refers that the baby is suckling. I withdraw the cannibalism comment.

I think breast-milk is a bit of a stretch. The challenge was for "recipe," not "food." Also, the picture feels very "snap-shot," not really exhibiting any artistic value. A little less space at the top of the frame might have helped. A little camera-shake, too, seems evident. Overall, I think you tried something different, but didn't truly suceed in your effort.

which one's the child?

Congratulations on a lovely baby. The spoiler on this pic is the background

Doesn't fit the challenge, but nice portrait.

no recipe there
01/12/2006 11:17:07 AM
Be hard to come up with the recipe for that one... must include "love"

This is the real natural food [recipe] for the healthy life of a baby.

Nice shot and excellent.

A beautiful shot indeed. I honestly love it, but I had to give it a 6. The baby of the baby's face is also very impressive. I think you could have scored higher if you didn't stand up. If you could have knelt and be at her level, make sure she was looking elsewhere, boy I would have given it a 10 I think. I personally think to pull this kind of picture off in colour isn't easy. They're normally better off in black and white. If you also could have played a bit more with the lighting and made her sari stand out more it would have worked great as well. At least for me it would have. There's just a small distraction at the bottom right corner. It looks like a big of hand and someone's dress. So really, I think this came down to lighting and camera angle.

Doesn't really meet the "recipe" part of the challenge for me.

"Prepare 1 or more dishes from a recipe. Photograph before, during or after and use that as your submission." This is not a prepared food, in fact, you can't see the food at all.

The gift of life! Nice twist for the category!
01/11/2006 02:29:58 PM
Might have been better going with the mother challenge with this shot, I see your angle but dont think the recipe is going to be too entralling for this. Thinking outside the box though is always good

i really don't know how to vote on this one, good point and emotional subject
01/11/2006 01:47:35 PM
I must have this recipe...
01/11/2006 01:40:02 PM
man...come on
01/11/2006 08:47:34 AM
Challenge says to prepare a recipe and take a photo before, during or after. I don't see this here. Sure, it might be food, but did you read the challenge description? I don't think so.
01/11/2006 08:09:52 AM
out of focus, and oddly lit
01/11/2006 03:53:34 AM
good idea, but the photo could have been better...this looks like a tourist snaphot. a little more time and care and this subject could have been the winner.

Somehow I'm thinking this won't meet the challenge guidelines. If it does, I'd like to see the recipe for it.
01/11/2006 12:38:53 AM
While I agree, this does not meet the challenge. Breast milk is not a meal served from a recipe.
01/11/2006 12:34:51 AM
SO...what are the ingredients? I tend to think I "think outside the box", but I am not sure where you were going with this one....
