I love potatoes. All kinds of potatoes in all shapes and forms. Chosen for this photo because of the texture and color.

2 pounds of potatoes
1 cup of milk
6 tablespoons of butter
Salt and pepper

1. Add some salt to the boiling water and cook until the potatoes are tender. (About 15 minutes)
2. Drain the potatoes and mash by your method of choice. (I prefer a potato ricer)
3. Blend in butter and milk.
4. Season with salt and pepper.

Post processing: resize & unsharp mask

Good composition. Lighting is decent and there are no overexposed areas. You might consider a slightly higher f/stop for this shot to assure the nearest potato is in sharper focus. There is some slight haloing on the top potatoe's edge and the tones of the background are not quite balanced.

Good, but a little too bland amongst some strong competition. Also, I might have preferred warmer tones to your choice of blue.

I really like the quality of light in this shot. Perfect focus, bumping after a second look.

Nice study of a much-loved ingredient. Composition and crop work well. Could do with more light towards left of frame - wonder if a reflector would help bounce some of the light coming in from the right back into some of the shadow areas at the left?

Nice, a little on the dull side. Better lighting might help.
