"My artistic thought: The model is far too beautiful for this theme. She looks more like snow white sleeping than death at the end of a hard day. Her hair is too perfect to show stress, as are her perfect nails (French Manicure?) newly polished hardwood floors, show a very neat and organized life."

that's why the shot is so perfect for this challenge, there are so many questions to answer. If it were a bum on the street who overdosed, you'd assume their life had been hard. This woman, however, poses many questions about her life. I love it. Fantastic.

This picture does meet the challenge, as I think it leaves a lot unsaid, and forces the viewer to wonder about what has happened and why.

Technically, I like the focus on the bottle and pill with the body being just slightly softer. I also think the bw gives it a colder feeling (and I see a slightly blue cast which makes it seem even more final). Though being tilted makes it feel like she and the pills should slide right out of the frame, I do think it adds more interest than a straight horizontal shot.

The only thing I would change is the bottle. Maybe have her holding other pills, or take the label off. Once the viewer notices that the letters are backwards (at first I thought it was a foreign language) it is really noticeable and seems to take away some of the punch.

Overall, very well done with little room for improvement.

Best to you in future challenges.

Ouch. This one really hits you in the gut. Nicely done. I like that you chose to take it on an angle. My eye doesn't quite know where to rest in this one, circling from the face to the arm to the bottle to the pills and back, but I think that was exactly the intent. The starkness of using black and white was a good choice for this subject, too.

Out of all the photos I saw this one left me wanting to know more .It show how we can't know more.

The photography was fine but I don't believe she's overdosed because she's much too happy in her facial expression.

Nice angle, nice DOF (I like that you got the pills and bottle in sharp focus and the face only slightly blurred). Nice choice with B+W

While a sad 'topic' the photo and the statment are strong and effective in asking the viewer-- why? or what? The lighting is a little too bright on some of sweater, but overall excellent photo. 9

Very well composed. B&W works well. This pic tells me a whole story, only the question "why"? remains unanswered. One of my favourites for the challenge - 10.

My only 10 this challenge... the slope is very effective, the dof is perfect, I like the degree of blur on her face. The foreground is nice and sharp. Black and white works very well here. Good composition, great exposure, the lighting is good. Nice concept for this challenge. 10

One of my favorites....

Assuming this is a staged shot it negates the need to ask any questions. Good viewpoint and lighting.

Here's a question - Why is everything backwards? I noticed that the words on the pill bottle were probably taken in a mirror.

Excellent lighting and exposure. The white tones are perfect and I can't see one area that is "blown out". Nice border in this case as well. 8.

too contrived. good shot though...thought out, well composed...but...i feel the eneergy of staging this...inauthentic.

great composition and message!

My technical thought: This is a very clean shot. Impressive DOF, the angle, the color tone and the theme all right on target here.

My artistic thought: The model is far too beautiful for this theme. She looks more like snow white sleeping than death at the end of a hard day. Her hair is too perfect to show stress, as are her perfect nails (French Manicure?) newly polished hardwood floors, show a very neat and organized life.

My guess is the butler did it. – Nice work – 10

Great depth of field and framing. The camera tilt adds a lot. It might have worked even better if the model's head had been turned away from the camera, adding more mystery to the shot, and avoiding the plesant sleep pose that seems to show up here.

I like that you left this untitled. Your victim looks so peaceful, beatific, almost. I like those big chunky tablets, too.

I like texture and DOF in this photo, although I think it might have looked better level

Yikes, definitely not something i'd want to find.

A sad but very good shot!

Great idea. Great lighting, and composition. She looks to healthy though, so it feels too staged. Blame her. I still give it 7

what kind of sinus medicine does this (sorry I was reading backwards) I better avoid it
seriously looks like a good shot with good focus and perspective and B&W does well here but I'd turn the bottle so you couldn't read it because text (esp backwards) really catches my attention away from the rest of the photo a 7

Oh man, how depressing! I love it. Nice tilt of the camera! Lighting and focus are superb. 9

Seemingly staged (I hope).

This photo would have piqued my interest more if the face was cropped about 50-75% out of the picture or maybe if the depth of field was focused more on the bottle. Seeing the face humanizes the photo and distracts me from the pills in the foreground. I guess either focusing on the face or on the pills would, in my opinion, have made a more profound statement.

I also think a darker setting might have lent itself to this scene. The light from the subjects face, robe (?) and the bottle all blend together. I would be more intrigued with an evening gown slightly out of focus in the background (or something with a darker hue)

All-in-all I think this is a good setup, a good subject. Perhaps a little trite for the contest but definitely better than a 'guess what I was thinking when I shot this' photo.

This would have been a more realistic shot if you werent still holding on to the bottle. Good shot nontheless
