He's frowning, but I think he's really posing. There's something about his look that is amusing. Again ... the image raises questions and draws us into supposition.

"Involvement" is the key ingredient for any photography. If it doesn't stop us and get us questioning something about it, it will be an also-ran. That's why I love this type of photography.

I had two hours to spare (jury duty) and went into the street and started shooting at everyone in sight. I was aware that this guy knew i was shooting him, it was really only when I got these onto the computer that I saw 'the look'.

I just have the feeling that he's playing with me, he looks so sure of himself. He doesn't really look angry, he doesn't look overly amused either but I really feel he was aware that he's photogenic and wanted to play with that process. I regret the movement of his head has spoilt the sharpness but have uploaded it because I believe it is a powerful and important image.

I was shooting at extreme zoom (432mm) hand held and the light was dropping behind the hills and buildings at 1629 on a mid winters afternoon. His fingers are sharp but the all important face is not.

Post processing then needed to go for the grunge look and so it's noisy, saturation is quite high and contrast is quite strong. Cropping was all-important to this image. The original shot is really quite ordinary until I cropped it tight got rid of all the distracting background whilst keeping the shop signs behind him. Also I think grain is important to this image as it has to have certain grunge factor to work.

I'm sure you were going for an effect, but this just feels out of focus to me 5

These type of images bother me, and I find it had to comment re subject matter, but a good photo all the same...

You've got a very interesting pose and expression nut the unfocused approach is very distracting for me. I think this might have been much improved with a sharper image and maybe some photoshop processing to add to the expression captured. Maybe the Grunge action. JMO.

the idea is there - just not in focus. Too mmuch motion blur.

Out of focus - looks like your AF picked up the background.

A little too soft or out of focus for me. I do like the expression of the subject. Not too sure about the background. If the background was all dark and he was in focus, I am sure it would be a better image. Just my opinion.

sorry, but this doesn't get it for me. i can feel the anger, etc, but there's too much going on for me to really get into it. but hey, that's just my opinion; as long as you love it, that's what matters.

Could have been a good moody portrait, but the blurriness is hard to get past in my opinion.

Interesting experssion, but seems out of focus. Was this your intention?

Good concept. I like the emotion captured but the composition is just let down a little by the focus.

An interesting picture with lots of potential. I am finding however that the soft/lack of focus, whether intentional or not, is a real letdown. Still give it a 6, as I like it.

Great composition. Seems to suffer some from either a intentional soft focus or it is slightly out of focus.

not sharp .. I don't think it is meant to be, good attitude ... I think it really deserved to be called "staunch" he just looks pissed at you.

Nice cadid ... well cropped.
