May be just a touch over exposed on the white. And I'd like a touch more sharpness on the crown of it's head. Looks like it starts to blurr from DOF. And I would like a bit more on the bottom of the bird.

That said, it is a great capture and a nice shot. Good expression and a fair amount of detail.

*thumbs up*

(Don't you love comments like these "lighting is a little flat, retake in better conditions" yes, if I could simply pull such a bird out of my hat when conditions were perfect I would do so. That's just luck of the draw. It's what can make the difference between a good capture and a great capture but often such is not within the photographer's means or ability to improve upon.)

Nice job - I love bird photos.
If you are serious about taking great bird shots, create a membership at PhotoBlink, post some stuff and be prepared for the big boys to let you have it right between the eyes. The good news is that these guys are really good and generally very willing to help. They will guide you on your exposure compensation - which in this photo the whites are too bright and feather detail is lost, and they will help you get that so impostant eye glint - which here again is missing and is really needed for that extra punch.
Good luck and keep with it!

nice image, but needs a few things to make it better -
lighting is a little flat, retake in better conditions
feels a little 'soft' - make sure focus is pin sharp, use tripod to eliminate all movement
use shallower depth of field to lose the distracting background detail (f2.8) or lower is ideal, but maybe not possible on your equipment

Nicely composed. I like the DOF too. Great capture.

Nice. Would like to see a bit more detail in the pure white.
