Well i know there will be lot of studs who will come up and tell me that this does not meet challenge, or some reason why they gave me low scores for this. I simply do not care about the scores for this image. But i feel, this is one of the biggest oops moment we human beings had. This is something that shouldn't have happened, and nobody before it happened, thought the consequences it had.

The bomb exploided just 600meters above this building. This building is preserved as it is.
Do visit this place, if you get chance, it really worth the every second you spend there.

Post processing: No post processing done for it, it is presented as it is in my camera.

I think Fotomann did an excellent review of the photo. I think I agree with every single point he made.

I think the photo tells a story AND this story needs to be pasted on to our kids. I have read every post and some I can agree with and some I have to wonder about.

I guess the comment that I have is that... you have a talent and when you want to say something with that talent then say it loud and clear. ie.. do as Photomann suggests and do the post processing. Its important! I would like to see the photo afterwards.

***Greetings from Critique Club***

I personally considered your photo very on-topic and a good reminder of a major Oops. Job well done!

Now, let's talk photography. Focus is good and the DoF you chose worked well for you.

Perhaps it's a little under-exposed, but this actually might work for the image, making it a little dark.

A little processing would have helped you get a little better score, but like you said, you didn't care about the score. You just wanted to tell a story, that's admirable. But, why not use the tools at hand to tell the story better by making the photo more dramatic? Higher contrast, darker tone ... things that would have taken seconds in post-process could have made a more dramatic statement.

My photojournalism background tells me that most of the time it's better to leave the image as captured. But, sometimes it's appropriate to add a little drama to the image, especially with an image that has the impact capability as yours.

Angle of atack:
The tree, while showing the "death" in this image, is somewhat distracting. It overpowers the composition. A slightly different point of shoot to minimize the tree's dominance would help the compostion a lot. Perhaps there is also too much sky in the shot.

Polarizer:
A polarizing filter would have been very appropriate for this shot. Making the clouds more pronounced and providing an atomosphere for the story you are trying to tell.

Overall, I like your way of thinking. I see what you wanted to say here and it is admirable. In that, I say good work. I look forward to seeing more work from you.

Take care,
Leroy

well i am happy that this photo had more than 550 views and around 400 votes, so at least 450 people looked at it. I wish to put some more pics i took that day for viewing, i do not have member account so can not put them on portfolio.

Second (it does not really matter but), some people said it was not oops, i agree with them it was not oops, but then the descreption said 'photograph something gone wrong' and i could not think of anything gone more wrong than this in last century. I expected it to score around 5 due to this and it score around that.

thanks to all who spent time writing the comments.
Arjun
ps: digitalknight i am sorry for being rude in the PM, i thought about not putting hiroshima in title before the challenge, but a devasted building and dried tree does not dipict nuclear bombing, so i had to put it to show people what they are actually looking at, i do value your comment, even though i did not liked at the spur when i read it.

Not quite an OOPS, more like greater than a million man life saver within historical context but no less a devastating and horrible event.

Actually, I don't think you could consider Hiroshima an "oops" - we did that on purpose.

I find it hard to evaluate this photograph because of the emotions I feel aroud the event. Whatever point value I decide to give it, it has made me think..

An interesting entry for the "oops" challenge. I suppose it depends on which side of the war you were on. For me, the tree obscures too much of the building itself. I wonder if taken at a different angle would increase the overall effect?

Amen brother :). Those technically it wasn't an "opps" it was an all out presidentially sanctioned decision. 7.

I wouldn't call this an OOPS. This was a horrific day. I think your title was unfortunate.

The tree is just too overwhelming to let you see the actual focus of the picture.

this is a photo of a tree - when you have to explain it in a title, it's not a strong photo IMO -2
