Given short shrift in the scoring, this was! I love the almost-painted effect that the relatively shallow DOF provides; the smooth colors at the edges make it look almost as if there is an infinite plane of "tigerness" beyond the boundaries of the image. aside from capturing a thoughtful-looking and direct gaze from this large cat, you've accomplished something I find rare, which is activating the space outside of the image frame. Very nicely done.

Had this image been perfectly crisp and clear (appears a bit grainy on my screen) I think this would be a ribbon winner. I like the tight closeup.

Great look on the tigers face. I like the crop and the clarity of this shot. You have picked the exact right point for your centre of your DOF, from the nose back to the eyes are all sharp before the focus drops away. I'm guessing you used a long zoom as the shot is slightly flat but I guess that's usually necessary when taking pictures of something that could eat you. I don't think your border has helped this shot but overall it's a great photo.

Line border is distracting. Solid border, if any, would have been better. Love the shot of the face, tho. Fantastic capture of a magnificent creature.
