My daughter's gyroscope. This was a bit of a last-minute idea, so I didn't come up with anything too interesting to do with it, so I just tried to get a descent, simple shot. This wasn't exactly what I wanted, but I liked it OK. Lit with a 500w halogen on one side, a 60w incandescent from the front, in a plastic tub "light box", with black foam as the background. Sharpened, levels, contrast, resize, resharpened. (I may have messed it up with my clumsy post-processing. But I'm running out of time...)

I voted a few days ago and failed to comment on this image . I love the shot and the contrast with the black backround and the way the light is bouncing of the center of the gyro...I gave you a 9 and I think your are a top 10 player:) good luck!

It's sort of hard to see that it is spinning, in the middle it it looks more like shaved metal sitting still. Not sure what those white speckles are on the black there. But those could be easily cleaned up in photoshop =)

Very nicely lit. I like the slightly off-center, angled composition too.

I like the stillness of the frame compared to the spinning top- The image looks slightly oversharpened - but it's a difficult shot to work with I imagine.
