Shoot x-mas tree, took servral picture down to f1.8, but lense was sharper at 5.6 with enough to still show shallow depth of field. Croped, strightend, small color correction, add green and black frame saved for web. Ho Ho Ho...

Although DOF and composition are good, there are a couple of things that don't sit right with me about this picture. I think the wire is a bit distracting. Also, I think that the space to the right of the ornament could be filled something more interesting, such as another light, perhaps.

if it would be blurred on both sides of the ornament the composition would be more appealing...seems to one sided

Fantastic! I would suggest moving the light strand. (Don't worry, I took a similar pic and did the same thing, still yours turned out much better than mine)

4, the reason being the lack of creativity... and the depth of field kinda just looks like a picture that got blurry on accident. Dorry if that is harsh in anyway about the creativity it's just after you see 150 plus pictures of peple taking pictures of Christmas ornaments it just gets lost in all the rest

I love the Christmas tree lit shot. I think I'd prefer that the ornament (subject) not be so dead centered. Lovely DOF and the colors are stunning.
