Mingo is his name, a rescued/tortured pit bull cross. I've learned a lot since posting that shot, and now use a camera with better dynamic range to avoid the blown highlights, 30,000 images since with a lot of self-assignments. Thanks for the comments! Lynne

I'm sorry, but there is something unatracctive about this. I can see your concept of speed, the lightings ok, you have focus fairly well on a moving target (the slight blur shows movement well) Perhaps its the pinknes of the skin?

Excellent attempt at capturing a difficult subject. For this challenge a slower shutter speed would give more of a sense of motion and speed. In this image only the left (from the dog's perspective) front paw is blurred. Also, more space on the right for the dog to move into would give the image more impact.

Having him changing direction shows the concept of speed quite well. It's quite a nice shot.
