I'm sure this idea will be rampant in this challenge... I expect that most people with access to snakes have this shot entered... Oh well.
I was forced to sell my own snake, Hobbes, of whom there are numerous photographs of in my portfolio. This shot is of my roommate's pet snake Sasquatch. He's a Red-Tailed Boa.
Post was simple. Crop, Curves, Brighness/Contrast, USM

I don't like the DOF here, but I am only one person, and you may have been intentional. What I don't like mainly is the front, I dont mind the back being out of focus to much, but I would of really liked to see the nose more in focus, and maybe even the rock. GL.
Hiya. I'm inclined to think this should have been entered in the short depth of focus challenge. This would have been much more striking if the whole head had been in focus. As it is, it is a good shot, and certainly gets to me.
I would have liked to have the front part of the snake's nose in focus too. With such a narrow DoF a catchlight can really add a lot to the image. The strong shadow under his head is a little distracting, but the DoF works in your favor to make it less important here.
