very last minute

***after voting***

i never would have guessed a picture of myself would have made it into the top ten. i got the idea while i was at work then had 15 minutes to do it when i got home. if i had spent more time on it i think it would have been a little better and maybe a top 5 or better. i thought the chain was clearly recognizable and i didnt see any distracting blur, but some people had a problem with it. i probably could have left more light on the chain but im not sure i could have focused it any better(the MF on my camera sucks...it isnt an slr). i love the tie with the 8th place person. thanks to everyone who voted for me.

update...i just got to see this picture on another(higher resolution) computer screen and the burn tool is very obvious, from now on i'll definetly check that out before voting starts.

Greetings from the Critique Club

Congratulations on a spectacular entry. Excellent lighting and composition make this a treat to look at. And certainly the pun was funny and obvious enough so that voters 'got it' on the first take.

You make the point, beautifully, that sophisticated equipment is not necessary to get a good image.

Keep up the good work. I look forward to seeing more of your images on DPC.

If the spot editing wasn't so visible I would have given you a 10. Great photo

Great idea, shame its so dark - a bit more light along the chain would've made it.

I like the idea but the lighting bothers me. I might be wrong but the light seems like it's supposed to come from the match but the light from the match is orange and the light on your models face is white. Just a thought.

Wow, cool concept so it really disappoints me not to be able to see what it is he's 'smoking' ... is it a chain of some sort?

Good idea. Almost used it myself. Your setup is just too dark and blurry. Keep entering your shots - you will get better.

Sometimes the thumbnail images that you can't see until we open them, just blow me away, with the super shots, and great subject matter, just like this one...... This is a treasure, and just so powerful................number one in my book........

Fantastic, amazing, unique. When you see the title, you almost know what to expect. However, I did not xpect an effect quite as good as this. Fantastic.

This is one of my top three. Very well done. The little bit of color in the beard makes a striking touch.
