I like the idea of this photo. I think to add further contrast - in addition to blurry vs. focus - would be to have children in the background to contrast age. However, as it stands, great lighting, great composition, great DOF.

I love the emotion this evokes, its a wonderful capture, however the focus could be sharper in the man, as you likely know. Good Job, Great Composition.

one of my favorites this challenge -- told the story very well (wish his feet were in the shot)

My first choice in this challenge. The critical thing here is that you have used the depth of field to enhance both the look AND the meaning of your photograph, a possibility that does not appear to have occurred to those who decided that depth of field WAS the subject! Any image of an old person shuffling by with the aid of a stick is likely to be worthy and thought-provoking in itself, but this image, which includes the old lady as the perfect reciprocal of the old man, is by comparison laden with possibilities for deeper meaning. And of course the use of a shallow depth of field both literally AND figuratively isolates the two subjects from each other, leaving each to plot a lonely course, which presumably is the artistic point of the image. It's a thoughtful, confident yet quiet image. Such a welcome change. Bravo! 10.

4 - Good concept. Criticism; wish it were sharper on the gentleman in the fore, even softer (no idea 'how') on the trees/etc in the very rear. A different crop, or else sharper angle/perspective and inclusion of 'legs/feet', and a slight tweaking of the toning too perhaps, would all have likely made this better in my opinion.

I like the composition and the B&W. The shallow DOF works well. Some tough light to work with causing bright spots on the man's jacket and shadows on his face.

I love this. Great use of post editing. Nice! The two walking sticks are a nice compliment to each other.
