Too Late for I Love You

Photograph Information Photographer's Comments
Challenge: Too Late (Basic Editing III)
Camera: Fujifilm FinePix S5500 Zoom
Location: Albury NSW Australia
Date: Dec 5, 2005
Aperture: 9.0
ISO: 100
Shutter: 1/4 sec
Galleries: Emotive, Studio
Date Uploaded: Dec 5, 2005

Setup:
I wrote Dear John on my tinted glass coffee table top with a white marker. I set this up in front of the camera and shot through this to get the writing on the photo. This caused problems with exposures as the glass is tinted and also because the glass surface reflected other stuff from around the room, which made lighting and camera angle very important. This is a self portrait so getting the alignment right took some effort as I was running back and forth from the camera to the pose position. This was my 75th photo, which I was finely happy with the composition and exposure and not getting reflections.

I am trying to relay the feeling of loss and knowing its already too late to do anything about, i.e. the typical Dear John Letter.

This is a difficult one to pull off as I feel there could've been a more effective way of conveying the same idea without the writing. I do appreciate the sense of loss from "John", however.
