I was playing a little with lighting here. Put small candle behind the bottle and used a lightsource reflecting from the ceiling.
Used auto levels. Increased saturation and USM. Slow shutter.

Hi Robert, greetings from the Critique Club :))

I really like the mellow tones of this shot, your choice of topic is good for this particular challenge.

I find the background distracting, perhaps a darker or black b/g would bring the focus directly onto the topic, would also eliminate the rings on the table.

A lower point of view would have brought the top of the bottle into shot, though then you may not have captured the lovely mellow colour in the bottle. It's a difficult lighting situation, but one well worth playing round with.

I do like where you are heading with your playing round, it's so important to keep trying new things......lighting, camera angles, editing.

It would be good to try this shot again with a different background, deeper dof to see if you could get a slightly better focus on the front of the glass, adding more light to see if you could get that glass to sparkle.

Good creative work!

regards
sue

I'm not a Cognac afficionado but I don't think you drink it out of that kind of a glass. And those water rings or light reflections are distracting. And the top of the bottle is cut off :(

This might have been better from a POV bottom up not up bottom....lower your POV...t is more pleasing to the eye.....5

The rings on the table take away from the impact

i would have liked to see more of the amber tones played up in this photo as opposed to the reds. perhaps a black background would allow those reds and ambers to sing more in the photo. also, the light source is reflecting a lamp in your glass, and bouncing your light may help avoid this.
as an adult, i have acquired a taste for v.s.o.p. and am happy to see this tasty marker of adulthood included in this challenge!

Bad angle of foto taken. Select better surface next time. Details are important here. 4

i would like to see the whole bottle there, and the reflection of the glass is a bit distracting.

I don't like the circles ont the left and I think the colors could have been warmer...I have also a strange feeling of slightly out of focus...

Great product shot. Good light, good composition, the ring marks on the table really do spoil it (as I bet you worried they might)
