 To practice my portraits, I'm picking portraits out of photography books and magazines and trying to duplicate what I like about the image on my own. I liked the image I based this off of (from a canali(?) ad) because of the lighting and pose. I took this less than an hour ago, so I still need to seperate emotionally from the shot to critically review it.

One studio light pointing at the wall 1 meter to my right.

I'm still practicing with studio lighting, so I especially welcome comments and suggestions.

Excellent portrait. The hues seem a little on the red side and could use a little tweaking IMHO. Very nice composition.

Very cool. I like this replication very much. To my taste, try a slight desat of the red in the skintones. Since there is minimal color, it might help go with the shot. The lighting and pose is great.
