This really does suit the challenge and has a great "industrial" feel to it. My eyes just keep wishing there was more in focus than one needle. If more was in focus it would be more visually appealing to me.

Intriguing title, but the image seems to say OOF needles. Motion blur would have been much better. Also if if there had been more colorful threads, a lot of them just get lost in the silver.

Very interesting, but needs more DOF. Shallow DOF doesn't highlight what is interesting here, which to me are the different colored threads against the shiny grey metal background.
