Poor choice in background. Dictionaries are too centered in the frame and overall it just isn't interesting. One of the things I ask myself when voting is whether I could see the photo hanging on my wall. In this case it is a definite no.

even stack...odd number of books...

A creative use of an odd number of books.

if you had left the pyramid at 1 through 4, instead of 5, would have had an even number of books

I would have used this picture for a challenge with a pyramid theme. Otherwise, its simply a pic of a pile of dictionaries. Try using black and white with a different angle.

Nice and sharp, but could use something more, more angle, a kid leaning on the pyramid, a pad of paper with writing, etc.

this picture should be in Odd challenge, - 15 books
11/23/2005 05:16:14 AM
So.
What we have here is a pile of books on a carpet.
15 books.
On 1 carpet.
And nothing which looks even either. (The pile is off-centre, and skew.)
I think you'd have done better by taking more time in deciding on your angles, and on using lighting to add character, and isolating the books from their background, might also have helped.
Don't give up trying.
And remember this motto:
"Is this pizzazz?
Or is this pedestrian?"
It's what helps me decide on what gets deleted and what stays.
Good luck for future entries!

The texture on the ground is very distracting
