The Titan Arum flower is the largest-known flower in the world. Aside from it's size, the distinguishing characteristic is that it smells like rotting meat in order to polinate by attracting insects that scavenge dead animals. The US Botanic Garden in Washington DC raised this example from a donated seedling.

Shot RAW, converted for web, sharpened. The extension cord in the background bugs me, but basic editing prevents that. I had to bang off the shot when the botanist pointed at it because including a human element is a good way to establish the outrageous scale of the flower.

Wow, I've seen this before, very rare. Nice shot. Would love to see it with more foliage behind it. Love the colors.

Huge and beutiful bt not very "odd"?

One of the world's oddest. To bad the arm's in it. A narrow dof would have improved it. Good luck on this corpse flower. -6-

Crazy plant. Good pic except I think it would have been better without the arm and finger pointing. Is this the plant that has a horrible smell?

WOW that is quite odd! Your focus is all on the plant, that's good. But the hand, I don't know about the hand. Maybe if there was not hand it would look better, but I still like the picture. Good Job!

Very Odd! I would have liked this shot better without the hand but I guess it gives it perspective.
