Thanks for all the comments and votes :)

This was sort of like a lightbulb went on idea, but spur of the moment.
Shot just a few hours before the challenge deadline. A few things I would've liked to do better, get enough DOF so the stem appeared even sharper enough but still keep the tangerines behind in an OOF state. I would think their imperfections would be more of a hinder and since spot editing is not allowed you get my point ;) same goes with the blown highlight of the light reflecting off one of the tangerines. My hands where just itching to clone that out. Use of a different light source would've been better but not handy at the moment. Also.. yes the bit of green visible was left there on purpose. I would really like to reshoot this image with some of the suggestions put into place. This was a really fun challenge. Thanks again, everyone.

My eye is drawn to the reflection spot on the orange. Interesting idea painting apple orange but a little more DOF would put more detail on the oranges (sorry but at first glance I thought they were pumpkins0.

good idea... did you leave the green spots so that the viewer would know it was an apple??? I would have known it anyways because of the stem...

Apples and oranges, oh my! Very clever and well done.
( Just wanted to stop back and restate how impressed I am with this. A simple clever idea well thought out and well presented. Ulitmate bump.)

I love how you got the orange paint the same colour as the oranges and that there is just a little bit of the green apple showing through, lets us know it's really an impostor. Well done, one of the best in the challenge.

nicely done, reflection is slightly distracting and you missed a little of the green on the apple, but overall good shot

Slightly overexposed, but otherwise a great photo.

I hope you didn't eat the apple after this shot! I like the set-up, maybe a little too much light reflected on the upper right orange.

i love this take on the challenge. I was discussing last night with my SO that there has to be a "tell" for a photo of camouflage to work - and in this challenge, this is my favourite "tell".

A painted apple, cool! Some parts of the apple are green and some parts of the picture are fuzzy. But I still really like the picture! Good Job!

For this to work for me (nice idea) all the oranges (tangerines?) would need to be in focus too. And the blown highlight is extremely distracting, especially since it is out of focus.

HEE HEE! YOU PAINTED AN APPLE. That shows ingenuity. You get an A for effort on that one.
