Wow, up close and personal and scary! :)

Yes, they can be the masters of camouflage and disguise and while this is a wonderful macro of said Praying Mantis, it's not really being hidden or camouflaged very well now is it? I would have liked this much better if it was further back and showing me how it was hiding itself. The focus seems a bit soft overall, even on the face part. But again, wonderful effort on the whole. A 7

Too bad about the focus, I would probably have liked this if it had been in tack sharp focus. Fits the challenge though.

If photographed from a greater distance, it would be camouflaged against the leaf it it probably on. As it is, it isn't in hiding at all. Photographically the focus is soft and it needs more DOF to get the antenae as well as the head.

Great camouflage shot but it seems a little out of focus.

this would have been perfect if you sharpened both eyes of the praying mantis.

Can't really tell what's camo about it but a great macro shot.

this is a very good macro shot but to be camouflaged he has to blend in to something, but there is nothing else in the frame for him to blend into.

Interesting shot but could use a little more sharpness...

Very nice..however, I wish I could see him in a more natural state.

Entomological discussions aside, this is a very good micro shot. As a challenge entry, I think it would have been stronger if you showed more of his environment.
