The low key effect, combined with your lighting, makes her look angry or discontent. I like the direction of the light, and you could be even darker if you wanted and perhaps add even more mood.

this would be much better if the subject were not centered. i don't like to play like i care too much about photographic "standards", but the "rule of thirds" could really make this image come alive. the lighting and contrast are great. 6.

Wonderful, lighting and expression! I ;ole how just a small amount of light was thrown on the hair so you could make out some of it. Framing is what really hurts an otherwise perfect image... why did you center this in a landscape format? A better choice would be to either position her in the leftmost third of the frame, having her look inward, or use a portrait orientation and have her face fill most of the frame. Pay attention to the edges also, you cut off a snippet of the neck :)

What superb lighting here! The angle and expression of the "lady" are also great. Perhaps would have cropped off a bit of the black from the left of the picture, and maybe made it into portrait format. Great picture!

I like the line created by theleft side of the model's face and down through the neck. I think a small light on the model's right to define the head and not so strong on the model's left would be more in keeping with challenge. But a very good shot.

quite a pleasant portrait. composition wise, getting wrid of most of the black area on the left would balance this image better.

I like this as a portrait, but there isn't enough shadow on her lovely face to really be considered low-key, black on black. I'm sure she's happy with this fine portrait though.

Very nice portrait, but I wouldn't consider this low-key.

I would have preferred the highlights not to clip, otherwise a very nice portrait.
