Its great that you are taking in to account the tips from dpc, looking at this picture i wouldnt use a flash or if you did use a flast, cover it with something to make it less and more even, i usually use a pic computer paper, folded as many times as i need to make it less, you could back up a bit and use your MP's and crop in that would make the focus better and the light more even,
