good lighting to highlight nice textures and forms. this is a well done shot, but i'm not a big fan of shots that use some other form of art as their primary subject. 6.

This is a very interesting piece of 'artwork'??
Is this clay, leather? I can't tell, only that it is an attention grabber.
You have photographed this object well in the low key fashion. I like the side lighting , with very little detail to the left side. Your contrast from light to dark is perfect, without much in the way of gray tones. Yet, you still have revealed a significant amount of detail in the texture. Your focus and DOF are dead on as well. Well done!

This is the essence of B-on-B (aka Low Key) photography. It gets my vote for #1

First of all, I like this photo a lot! The darkness really adds mood and texture to this statue. The net result, however, does not say "dignity" to me, but rather something far more mysterious, but not quite ominous. It's thought provoking nature makes it, in my opinion, a very nice shot with the wrong title. Nice work!

The odd thing about this, to me, is that I can't tell if it is "real", or if it is a sculpture or wood carving! Very nice lighting, though if it is a real person, I would have liked to have seen more light on the eye. Your subject fades beautifully into the black negative space. Good composition, all in all an interesting shot.

This looks unreal real. Great lighting and toning. Especially how the shadow covers the eye.

Good one. Meets challenge, yet allows detail to be seen.

This has to be a statue. The lighting is perfect. I love it. 10.

I am curious as to what this is. Is it a sculpture or a mask of sorts? I like the lighting on it.

This picture makes me wish I was a paying member just so I could vote. :( At least I can comment... Very nice ;) I really like the leatheryness of his face. Don't know if I woulda called it 'Dignity' tho...

This is a great shot!!!
I never found out how to do this "black on black" thing but now i need to find out.
Best of luck in the challenge, i'm sure you will do well, and i look forward to seeing a ribbon under this picture in a few days time.

Interesting... hard to tell if this is an old man, or a mask. I really like it. The eyes kind of bother me, I wish I could see them more, they look so sunken and eerie. I think in this case I would have actually liked to have seen more of the left side of the face, it is almost too black, but I guess thats the challenge. Awesome texture here! -8-
