The flaking bottom of my old skillet, with a few coffee grounds scattered to provide some additional texture and a curving edge to the subject, essentially creating a somewhat abstract landscape. Background is a cheap nylon portfolio with a mesh pocket on the outside.

Macro mode, timer and tripod used. Indirect sunlight plus incandescent. Used a couple of tone Curves to adjust contrast range, Channel Mixer to convert to monochrome, one light pass with Unsharp Mask. Used a tiny bit of burn tool, mainly to tone down a few tiny glaring spots.

0.3 degree rotation, cropped out a little from the top and bottom.

Also tried as a duotone, but it really didn't look any better than this one.

this is an interesting shot, but it's very flat in tone. the texture of the landscape is interesting, but i think it needs more contrast to be appealing as a photograph. 5.

I am not sure what to make of this. Maybe a touch more light to be able to make out what it actually is. To me it looks like a small bit of light through a very dirty window onto a floor with dirt on it

This makes a unique abstract, but enough is in detail that I want to know exactly what's going on. I'm not sure how I should feel about burnt food bits left in a pan. To me, it's not quite interesting in and of itself, yet no real story is suggested by either the photo or its title.

Unbelievable depth of field for this low key shot.

I like the grit and texture here. Great image.
