I took this shot in very bright sunlight on my back deck. The ring is a reflection from my lens, I suppose. I used a piece of gray typing paper (left) and a sheet of white (right) for my background. I then arranged blue paperclips on together on the left, and colored ones on the right. Took the shot.

Post processing -
Increased contrast a touch. (This helped to define the white line between the sheets and made the blues a little more not so flat).
Increased saturation of all colors except blue and cyan, just a touch.
Totally decreased the saturation of blue and cyan, making the blue clips gray.
Cropped, resized, framed.

I like the style of your border but I guess the black is a little overpowering. Also I think when you are trying to compose like this symmetry is very important. If you had organized the clips on the left a little better, it would have brought the mirror magic in the image.
Also I guess slightly reducing the amount of grey in the clips on the left would have balanced the frame better.
Over all a nice attempt!!

Nice piece of office art. Apart from the serrated edge effect on some of the paper clips in the top right hand corner this is an excellent photo - 9.

Interesting. how can half the picture be black and white and the rest be in colour! aaah! my brain is melting. Very cool!

Is this the colour vs black and white war? I want to know how you got this effect. Kind of interesting 'growing from the corner' 3d thing with the clip going on there. Conceptually a little... I really need a word other than 'abstract' here for this sort of thing. "I don't get it." would be too strong, though.

Good sharp clear pic. I don't like the lines between the 2 groups of paperclips particularly. COlors are well portrayed in this pic.

Cool. How did you do that?

The age old ? is every b/w or different shades of light?

Very sharp photo! Nice color. Image leaves with lots of questions - why the paper line down the middle (and the circle...could these be water marks)? Why colorful paperclips in one corner and bland ones in the other? This photo has a better "WOW" factor than the pics I gave a 7 to so, score upgrade to 8. Rob the Swash

You had a real unique idea here. I do think, however, the paperclips could have been place a little better. I don't really have any quick ideas to offer, but it just doesn't seem to appeal to me. Could have done without the diagonal line I think. Otherwise you focus is good.
