There is a long story that goes with this pic. The other day I saw a bird fly into my window box. We went looking to see where it went. When it flew out, we found a nest. The next day the eggs hatched. I've been taking pics everyday of the babies and mom. She brings them food and hops from a tree to the chair to the window box. She is quite fast, and doesn't pose for me. I was just trying to get a shot of her and didn't know what it was that she was bringing them to eat until I uploaded this. I was amazed with the sharpness on that tiny ant. It was almost as if I had focused just on it!
The bird is about 4 inches and the ant is probably 1/3", just to give you an idea.

Great shot!! The ONLY distraction for me is the soft focus, but otherwise a wonderful image.

Awesome capture. Could see that on a bird watcher magazine. Love how the insect and the head of the bird are in focus, just a litlte more DOF to have the body in sharper focus would be even better. Nice unobtrusive background and room for text. High marks. (8)

WOW! This is a totally awesome photo! Really well done. I would have liked to have seen it a little more vertical leaving room for some type but in this case it's not too important. Fabulous catch here... that bird is going to have a tasty treat. Do you know what kind of bird it is? Whats really cool about this photo is that there are no distracting background elements... you managed to get it on a very plain and simple background which is awesome! How close were you to this little guy? Congrats on a great photo, I'm giving you my second -10- for the challenge! Good luck!

So close to being so good. Great opportunity, but just a little out of focus. Its such a shame because this picture is so very close to being so good.

Amazing photo!!! The wren looked almost wooden (but it's too good for that even). Even more incredible with the ant in it's beak. WOW!!! Great color, focus and I like the framing - but the square sizing might hurt your overall score (but not from me!!) 10 Rob the Swash

I really enjoyed the angle that you took this from. It makes the bird seem alive. A litle blurry behind the head, but very well done overall

Very nice bird shot. I have the same in my garden. I have the lenses, tripod and all the stuff to do something like that, exept probably the patience.
Congrats.

Nice catch! I'm impressed you were able to get it pretty much in focus, and I'm sure it was 1 chance or nothing for this eh? Great shot.
