 My first shoot with my new camera. Took it out of the box at work and ran down the road to the Michael Campbell (2005 US Golf Open Winner) street parade in Wellington, New Zealand.

Shot taken from about 100metres away at 650mm. In the full 14mb TIFF, you can read the inscription on the US Open Cup.

As a portrait, I am really happy that this shows Michael's warmth and personality. It was important that the shot tells the story of the celebration. I am happy with the cropping including the trafffic light denoting the street parade while the head in the foreground says 'crowd'.

Great shot - I agree with the cropping (to include traffic light etc.) And even better considering it was your first shot with a new camera.
