Strange title? Not really, if you say it right it comes out like a stutter ("kar kar car").

The plant is a native of New Zealand with the common name KakaBeak. This one is supposedly a dwarf (1m) version of the full blown tree which is why we planted it at the front door. We think they swapped labels at birth as we are always having to cut it back so we can get in. It's so beautiful, especially at this time of year, there's no way we want to pull it out.

This was taken at 4pm on an early spring day as I walked up stairs from below and was struck by the colour and vibrancy of the plant with the red car behind it. The sun is almost directly behind the door knob and not very high which gave the KakaBeak that wonderful glow not only on the foliage, but in the flowers as well.

It's just another example of opportunism if you have your eye always in photography mode. Great light is always the determining factor. This shot at midday would just be plain boring and a waste of pixels.

The focal length is 220mm using the camera's incredible built-in Leica f2.8 aspherical 36-432mm lens.
