190th? i thought this one should've done pretty well. not your usual complementary colors photo, but certainly better than 190th

I'm giving you the high score this photograph deserves but I have to say I wasn't convinced it fitted into complementary colours. However it's open to interpretation and you've taken an excellent shot!

Complementary colours are pairs of colours that contrast strongly when compared to each other.
Apart from the flashes of red in the children's clothing, all the colours are so desaturated that the blues and the oranges do not demonstrate the effect of complementary colour contrast. Your image demonstrates a duotone effect rather than the effect of complementary colours.

It's a touching photo, though, and sent me looking for more information on Sapa.

Was this supposed to be entered in "your corner of the world"? Because while it's a gorgeous shot, I'm not seeing complementary colors here.
10/09/2005 04:40:22 AM
I think you probably meant this for the "Your corner of the World" challenge?? If so, it's a great shot. If not and you meant it for complementary colors....then i am having trouble seeing them.

Nice picture but not for this challenge.
10/08/2005 10:12:44 PM
Great capture of a captivating subject! Looks like it came out of a movie. However, where's the complements? Any complementary colors I do see are insignificant elements in the image.
10/08/2005 03:21:56 PM
This is a wonderful picture. Unfortunately, complementary colours is not the subject of the photograph. This picture is just too good to have been entered in a challenge where it is going to be voted down because it does not meet the challenge topic.

great pic but I think you are going for red and blue, but red complements green, sorry if I missed it, but great pic still deserves at least a 7, would have been a 10 if colors complemented

cool picture. must be lovely to travel, i know i can't wait to. however, i would like to mention that i fail to see this picture as having a basis in complementary colors.

very interesting picture of those children, nice colors, but not clear what complementary colors you are referring to - blue and orange I guess...

this is an amazing pic for maybe portrait or a life-based theme, but it doesn't meet the challenge at all.

Great photo! Looks like a national geographic cover, but I don't think the theme is totally taken to its full advantage here.

Beautiful picture but not meeting the challenge IMO.

Beautiful image, and I guess you could argue that the muted colours of the clothing kind of compliment each other.

The comlimentary colours challenge is about

"use TWO complementary colors to compose your photograph"

This is more than 2 colours and whilst is is a fine photo, I cannot score it any higher than 3

10/05/2005 04:07:19 PM
WOW is all I can say about this. A beautiful image full of complementary colours. I would be very interested to know about the post processing that was applied to this image. Excellent work anyway, my fave for this challenge.
10/05/2005 11:47:45 AM
I do not see any complimentary colors here.
10/05/2005 09:39:17 AM
Does not meet the challenge.
10/05/2005 09:26:46 AM
Wow, Great picture. Love each expression. Dont see much complementary color though.
10/05/2005 07:19:49 AM
Good documentary photo, but out of challenge :(
10/05/2005 04:48:16 AM
Amazing photo, but the colors are not complementary by my book so the grade drops from 10+ to mere 8!

The kids seem to be watching something interesting jet still a bit disturbing, makes one even more curious about these subjects :)
10/05/2005 01:26:38 AM
This is a wonderful image - a 10 in most circumstances. However, I just don't see the connection to the challenge topic.
