I'm surprised this shot didn't score higher, as I know how difficult it is to capture such ellusive birds. The colors and textures in the feathers are great!!
Congratulations!!

7 - Great shot. Criticism; in this particular instance, I think a 'selective desaturation' (or attempt) may have been better, the colors, especially the green, while good and vivid, 'clash' somewhat in my opinion. The detail on the 'little gem' is good, 'it' just contends with the vivid green foliage too much, in my opinion. Technically, while no 'expert' in the rules, I think you have placed the "point of interest" fairly well, but the plumage 'pops out' more than the face (not only re focus), so I wonder if it may have worked better with a tighter crop top/bottom, to 'use the left column of thirds' here, not sure.

I would have prefered a different background so the bird stood out better - but I'm sure the bird refused to cooperate.

simply beautiful, what species. I assume somewhere in Central America or Brazil.

A little less flash and I would have scored this higher. Very nice capture of the bird and good thirds composition.

Nice vibrant colors. The holes in the leaf to the right is a tad distracting with the busy aspect of it. Love the bird's detail and clarity. The harsh lighting reflection on the stem might use some work but is hard under basic editing. Good placement and the DOF is well executed.

Nice bird shot! Color on the bird is very pretty. Placement in frame is left third. Perhaps use of intersection of thirds could make this stronger, maybe focus on the beak or something. Of course you would have to ask the bird to turn around :-)
