wow

Fun use of blacklight for highlights, and if the anthers had been in focus they would have leaped out of the image.

Too much flash and too much zoom. Would probably be a nice shot if you pulled it back a little.

Too bright...

Thanx for the comments

I agree that the focus was slightly off ... I think I should wear my glasses when I'm shooting :)

As for the questions regarding flash and blacklight ... the shot was taken with the internal flash of the camera (thus the shadows) - I don't own an external flash. No, it wasn't blacklight photography.

I'd started taking shots of the flower by itself (which as one voter commented can be rather boring). The real colour of the whole flower was probably something like the red colour in the centre. I found that with the sun behind the flower that parts of the petals became orange. On adding the flash, the ring of purplish-white appeared.

I thought the effect was rather 'Warholesque'

Results were probably what I'd expected ... a mix of everything!!!

Thanx again for the comments and votes

This looks almost false colour. I like the nicely focussed detail.

I've commented on all the flower shots that you have to do something more impressive with a flower shot than with a more original subject. I think you did that here. Maybe the shadows are too hard, though.

Looks like a nice hot pussy to me.

The flash (or something) really blew out the highlights which too bad, it would have been a really cool picture

I don't really get into flower photography, but this has an abstract appeal. The levels look to have been pushed pretty hard to get those wild colors. Sure you didn't play with the saturation? ;-) Sure, it could use a little more DOF, and the flash shadows are pretty harsh, but as a flower macro that's not really a flower macro, it's appealing and fits the challenge.

The name of photo is nice. Good shot.

Beautiful colors! But for me the composition was a bit off, you're nicely centered, but it looks like you're in between subjects - like you're not sure where the focus should lie. I would have like to have seen the center of the flower or the ends of those stems in sharp focus.

Wow! Did you use a blacklight and a flash?

How the? What the?
