I'd never seen one of these before - at first I thought it was some kind of wasp. It moves quickly and the wings a beat really fast, so I took this shot at 1/1000 second.

Although I was really wanting to enter a picture uncropped for this challnge, I didn't have so much time to compose this series of photos properly in camera. So, post processing is a crop, adjust contrast, resize and USM.

I think the focus really hurt you here. I would have liked to see all of the moth in focus, if not the moth and the flower. Great composition and colors, and the lighting seems to be very nice. Your crop and contrast adjustment really worked.

Just thinking about it, the lack of focus may have worked better if the background had not been so busy. Then, with the great colors and contrast, it may have made a beautiful abstract. Right now it is pretty, but a bit too "busy" for me to look at it in an abstract way. I hope that makes sense - let me know if it doesn't.

this just doesn't hit the button with me - everything is just a tad out of focus - but a very difficult capture, meets challenge

7 - Nice. Criticism; wish the whole moth was in focus, though you have captured most of it very well, good definition. The 'bokeh' is nice, but the color of the flower detracts slightly in my opinion, or rather 'competes' with the subtle coloring of the moth. Technically, while no 'expert' in the rule(s), looks pretty spot on to me, though I would loved to have seen the wings used as a 'top row', etc, but that's a totally different shot and indeed likely technique too, so who knows.

I wish the hawk was facing us. Bokeh qualty seems really funny. What kind of lens you got here? Also seems out of focus.
