Critique Club Comment
Mr. Sje, there he is.
I thought it would be easy to critique the Portraits from this Challenge, but it isn't.
This is a good portrait and I think you can be happy with the result, but you also would like to know my vision on why it didn't ribbon I guess.
Well, off course I can only guess. So here's my best shot.
The lighting is OK, but not realy spectacular, lets say a bit flat, it's not bad, but could be improved by just a little more shadow.
The nose is a bit too highlighted for my taste and my eyes get drawn to it, away from the eyes.
The cut-off chin is also a bit distracting, the forehead is no problem, but I personally don't like cut of chins.
On my monitor the skin color also looks a bit yellow. But that off course could also be my monitor.
Ok, enough about what I don't like, on to praise you.
I think it was brave to send in a portrait of a man.
In the top 10 there are only 2 men and 8 girls. The safer bet would have been a girl.
So I salute you for your choice. The eyes are very good captured, ok, they could be a bit more bright (you can photoshop them) but they are sharp and full of detail.
So all in all I would say this is a well done portrait.
Congrats.

I think this would have been better had the crop been in portrait instead of landscape. The eyes are a great feature of this image. 5 |

Although cut off at the top and bottom....it still works. Nice job. |

I like the lighting. I wish there was a bit more of the chin or head (he looks a little...squished to me), but I think it's good. |

I like the expression on his face and the composition. I wonder what it would look like if we could see his chin? |

Good shot, just a the crop is a bit tight on the face. |

Good picture. I think it would be better with a different background to compliment his eyes. Was he expecting this photo? I can't help but laugh with him. |

Not a bad portrait. The lighting could use a bit of work. I could be wrong though..I do like highkey portraits. Good luck. |
