 Just had to share this, thought it was cool.

Sorry bout the ugly watermarks, I normally wouldn't bother, but the image is technically embargoed due to my contract with the paper, so there you go...

For the trivially inclined, the riders are: (left to right)
9 Ashley Whitehead
1 Reon Park
7 Paul Dough (Behind)
3 Brian Fowler
8 Brendan McGrath
4 Stuart Lowe

A couple of them are former olympians apparently, although I don't follow cycling..

This was for a 100mile (160km) race between Leeston and Washdyke, which is to commemorate a Christchurch to Timaru race that is no longer run because they can't race on the main road.. It was a 'cash' race with money up for grabs, although I don't know how much...

Outstanding image. I have taken a lot of photos of cycle racing and I know it is quitde difficult to balance shutterspeed (focus stopped motion) ISO and White Balance for exposure, and compose a decent shot all at the same time. Very well done!

Love the composition of this one. Focus and sharpness are amazing. I like the big orange sign; it's funny. Like it's not obvious it's a bicycle race. That's a nice touch including this element in the picture.

Very nice, I love it!!!!! Focus, dof and colours on the riders is excellent, and I really like the composition of the shot with the riders and cycle race sign.
