CRITIQUE CLUB!

what a great model to have -- you're quite lucky!

this is an excellent pose and quite well-lit. the catchlight in his eyes is nice and the composition, while very centered, works in this type of shot.

however, the background distracts (i keep wondering why there is a goat laying down behind his head) and that definitely takes away from the model's face. also, the right side does get a little shadowy -- perhaps another light source or a reflector would even out the lighting over there.

finally, the focus seems a bit soft. you mention in the details that you softened it somewhat, but i think this should be sharper. his skin and his shirt also have some kind of an overly smooth, plasticy quality that doesn't seem natural to me. i prefer a decent portrait that explores all of the textures available.

keep shooting! you've got a great model to keep busy!

A very nice subject whose feautures could have gone solo without the distracting background. Good focus and color. 7

Nicely lit and composed. Could use some extra sharpening. Good Luck!

Woolly background prop is distracting. It would be better with a backdrop of one texture - either the satiny sheet, or completely wool.

It's a nice clear shot with a good pose and composition. Colors work well together & I like how the off white (rug?) breaks it up a bit. The flash/shine on the forehead & the nose are a bit distracting .

Classic portrait... everything seems to come together on this. The only negative is the two different background textures creates a "line" through his head.

I must say he is very handsome, especially his eyes. The sharpness is very good.

Nice portrait, I like the...furry thing in the background. Gives the model a rugged kind of look. Good luck in the challenge. 8

I think a different background would have been better

Nice casual pose, but don't like the chosen background, the furry stuff is distracting, still a 6 for above average model choice.

Such a handsome man. The background detracts from the subject which is a really hot guy! I hope you will retake this photo without the distracting background.

I wish the background was a little more out of focus and maybe a tad of contrast to help bring him out more.
