All week long I was looking at trees in the park while the kids played, or while driving to work, trying to find an interesting tree or branch to snap a picture of. Just about ready to give up on this week's challenge, I park the car in my driveway and hear the coo of a dove. Sure enough, 2 feet above my head are a couple of doves in a nest. After several uninteresting trys with the EF 17-40mm, I finally got this shot with an EF-S 60mm Macro - the dove NEVER moved (even with my running in and out of the house to change lenses). Wish I could get my kids to sit still like that! Got a lot of great shots, but I think this one was the most interesting - even though the branch itself it out of focus. It's not a winner, but I'm hoping to make the top half.

Did slight levels adjustment, no other PS work done (other than resize).

I really only have one thing to say. Excellent Job! This is such a lovely photo. So peaceful. Your focus and clarity are awesome, and DOF really adds a lot to this photo. The branch is definatley not the main focus of the photo, however, there is a branch in the photo, so I think that it fits the challenge nicely.
The background is wonderfully green against the browns of the forground. Blurred nicely, no distractions there.
I was going to say that I wish the photo were just a bit brighter. Maybe some extra lighting in there somewhere, however, as I sit and look at it, I think it's the browns that really make the photo for me. Expecially the brown whispy things at the top which I think are maybe pine needles. So, really I think that if there were more light in the photo, then it wouldn't be the same color wise.
I really see no reason to not give this photo a 10. Great shot, wish I could offer more in the way of improvement, but I just don't see anything I would like to have seen done differently. Congrats.

Just beautiful! So delicate and serene. This would make a terrific poster! Really like the earth tones and the lines that point directly to your subject. One of my top ten favorites of this challenge. 9.

Very sweet. Doves have such a beautiful presence. I like the DOF. Maybe crop out part of the blurry big branch to the left. The colors are nicely done. I'd zoom in on the bird a bit more. 7

Nice bird shot, Iguess I'm going to mark neutrally because the subject of the challenge is OOF while the bird isn't

A nice nature shot, but would be more suitable to this particular challenge if you pulled the frame out and make the line of the branch the subject, with the bird as an attractive feature on the branch, rather than the bird dominating the frame and focus. It could also be placed away from the very centre.
