Myths and stories give us wings in which to fly to imaginative worlds.
- C. Novack

Most of my art centers around nature/trees/butterflies conveying an idea or concept. I look for new and unique ways in which to present a story or concept that will ignite the imagination and stimulate the mind of the viewer. Familiar stories and myths of old have inspired and entertained us since we were little. Like old friends they hold the power to inspire and comfort us, and they allow our imaginations to soar away from the realities that keep us grounded even if it is only for the short span within the pages of the story. Indeed where else can an ordinary horse become extraordinary just by adding wings so that it can take flight. Stories can transport us to other worlds and let us see things in a new light. Stories...yes, there is one behind this photo. I had set up my equipment and props for a photo shoot on two conceptual pieces that involved live butterflies. The room I used is my child's room, for the ceilings are low, which is good since the butterflies almost NEVER sit still in the place where I want them too. After the first few dozen times of trying to get the butterfly to sit on a ring, it flew off and landed on my eldest child's miniature toy horse with its wings open. Resting nearby on the dresser, was a blue, bound book of children's stories. I sighed and was about to methodically pick it up and try again to get it to sit on the ring when the layout of the scenario struck me. The butterfly with her wings open resting on the horse and the storybook beckoned me to once again tell a story of a world where horses have wings and imagination can fly.

Love it! What strikes me first is the horses head. The way it is turned toward the butterfly makes it perfect. Children's book title doesn't hurt this image at ALL! All in all, a gorgeous capture :) I admire the fact that you let them go afterward too :)
