Simple idea and excellent use of negative space. However, the theme of 'balance' suggested by the title is lost entirely by the unbalanced composition created by the violent crop. If the toe of the sandal actually was 'balancing' exactly on the bottom of the shot, it would have made the image so much stronger.

I like the angle of the shoe in this picture. However it almost looks like you focused on the wall, not the shoe. I would have liked to see more of the focus on the shoe itself.

If I weren't aware of the challenge topic, your title would be the only thing leading me understanding what the subject matter is. The shadow is nice and crisp but the shoe looks like it is moving.

Well I had to stare at it a bit to know what I was looking at. But I got there. Interesting idea. Good use of the shadow

I'm not picking up on something here
09/02/2005 08:52:15 AM
sorry, cannot tell what that is

The line or scratch on the wall is distracting, but creative effort.

Maybe a little too artsy for me. I'm not getting it...

But still a 7 because the choice of shoe, its positioning, & the negative space are really appealing.

Huh? Lovely pic but can't work out what it is

too blurry--a better angle/position would have made this more interesting

I like the composition and the subject. Its a great idea. I only wish that the shoe was sharper and more in focus.

I just don´t get what I am looking at here so I find it hard to rate this fairly.

Cool idea, but not sharp enough

Is there a shoe in there?
08/31/2005 07:28:31 PM
i like this picture, i'm just not sure if i understand it. if the wall is supposed to be in focus rather than the shoe, i'd like to see more detail.
