This doesn't grab me. I entered something similar in an earlier challenge and it bombed. I think that this is a much more difficult composition that we realize. It's a balance between blown-out highlights around the candle and the rest being too dark.
The ides was good, but I don't think it came out as good as you may have planned. The glass looks smudgy ( I had the same problem in one of my own photos ) and the lighting isn't really doing anything to enhance the subject.
Wonderful shot of the flames itself. The glass seems to have some smudges on it, this takes away from the flame. I love the sea shells and etc, adds color and interest. Good overall image. 6
