I liked this shot too. I don't know why the comments got hung up on the title. I know I get annoyed when that happens. So what if it isn't real rain?
I like the tonal range. It's nice to see the dark shadows and light highlights. I have to agree about the blurred arm. It doesn't bother me that the focus on the child is soft, but that much blur is distracting IMO. You need the slow shutter to get the nice rain streaks so I guess you'd just have to catch him not moving so much. I like the overall composition otherwise.
Now that the challenge is over, I'd get rid of that bright white spot on the plant. I'm not sure what caused it or if you had an alternate shot without that spot, but it's bothersome.
I think it's a cute shot. Even cuter if you know the child. It'd be a better "print and frame" family shot if you could see his face more.

Dang. i gave you a 10. I thought this would score higher.

I LOVED this shot by the way. It's perfect as it is. If it were my kid, I'd blow it up and hang it.

It is blurry, BUT, in this case I think it helps to show the movement and add to the overall feeling of the picture.

It looks more like the hose, as the raindrops are missing in the top right. Nice shutter speed to blur the rain.

The blurred arm distracts from the shot, especially since nothing in the frame is really *in* focus. The eye tries to fasten on the kid, but then slides off to the plants because of focus and lighting. A good 'almost' shot. If time and equipment permitted, I'd have shot lots of frames of the same session, and picked the one that worked out of twenty or so.

I like everything about this photo except the movement of the arm. Great focus, lighting and crop, though!

It is easy to see the story in this photo 8

movement of arm does not add to this photo to me

Hmm. From the highlights in the photo and the water I'd guess this was done with a hose or a sprinkler instead of natural rain -- no water on the right side. A different angle maybe?

The motion blur is fantastic in this shot. I love the long rain streaks!

nice image.... I might have lifted the contrast a little.... I like the way you have captured the light in the plant and on the hair and his nose.... good luck, Todd.

Awesome. I love the motion in this (even though it has no "real" focus) Great use of the tones
